Grit and Resilience to Go the Distance.
“After running the first 50 miles, the challenge to keep going is 90% in your mindset.”
You’ve heard this quote before if you’re an ultramarathon runner. Your mental game and mindset are a huge part of your success when you run for hours on end.
But you don’t have to be an ultramarathon runner. Your mindset and mental grit is a huge part of your success or failure when you run any distance.
But how many runners ever take time to train their mindset?
Oh, sure! Your mental discipline and grit keep you going through your training runs. You have to be motivated if you’re going to put in the hours and miles.
But you’ll see runners at every race who DNF because their mental game isn’t strong enough to overcome setbacks or problems. At the same time, you see other runners work through overwhelming odds because they have an ultramarathon mindset. These are the runners who give us the inspiring stories and videos we love to talk about.
